Etching, 13,5 x 8,6 cm, laid paper, signed "LH", numb. 196 (trimmed inside platemark, traces of former mount on verso).
Good impression and condition. Rare.
Fine etching after Albrecht Dürer's (1471-1528) engraving from the Passion series (Hollstein German VII.10.7). Lambert Hopfer (fl. c. 1525-1550) was the son of Daniel Hopfer (1471-1536), the first artist to use the etching technique for printmaking. Dark impression of the 2nd state with the number added by David Funck (17th c.).
