Lot description
Oblong 4to: 106 pl. (some usual spotting).
Contemp. red quarter cloth, red shagreen covers gilt-titled "Chateaux de Belgique", flat spine (binding loose from bookblock). Good copy.
Album with 106 lithographs of castles, ruins and abbeys in the province of Namur, after drawings by Antoine-Abraham Vasse (1800-1859), and lithogr. by i.a. Fourmois, Kindermans, Bauwens, Ghémar, Lauters, Stroobant. Mostly with the names of the proprietors in caption underneath. With his project "La Belgique par province", Vasse wanted to dedicate an album of 100 to 200 pl. to each Belgian province, and started his excursions in Namur. Liège (80 pl.) followed, then Antwerp (30) and Hainaut (25), before the project was halted.
