Rare description of an archaeological tour made in 1575 by Ortelius and the humanist merchant Vivianus in the southern parts of the Low Countries (from Antwerp over Mechelen, Leuven and Liège through Luxembourg) to Trier and the region of Lorraine, in the form of a letter to Mercator. Ill. with 5 etchings incl. 2 folding pl. of archaeological objects (i.a. monument of the Secundini at Igel) and 4 woodcuts (inscriptions, i.a. in Greek). Woodcut mark on title.
