Exceptional coloured facsimile of one of the most famous handwritten and illuminated books of all time. The Very Rich Hours of the Duke of Berry are considered as a masterpiece of the Flemish miniature, made by the three Limbourg brothers between 1411 and 1416. This spectacular book contains 130 miniatures enhanced with gold and more than 3,000 gold initials depicting scenes from life at court as well as everyday scenes from the life of the rural population. The excellence of the colours and the exceptional rendering of the compositions place the 3 artists among the best illuminators in the world. One of 550 numb. copies (n. 162). Authenticated. With the colour commentary by Inès Villela-Petit with the collaboration of Patricia Stirnemann.
