2 etchings and drypoints, 37,5 x 31,0 cm and 37,0 cm x 31,1 cm, laid paper, Spanish title in lower margin, followed by signature and date: "Pintura de D. Diego Velazquez, del tamaño del natural, en el R(ea)l Palacio de Madrid, dibujada y grabada por D. Fran(cis)co Goya, Pintor, año de 1778." (1 with few spots, sl. browned at left edge, ms. note at bottom right corner, 2 sm. tears at upper edge, hinges still present on verso; 1 with water stain, some foxing, edges frayed, ms. note at bottom right corner, traces of former mount on verso).
Good (sl. later?) impressions with wide margins. A fine piece of Spanish art history.
From a series by Goya (1746-1828) after paintings by Velázquez (1599-1660) at the time in the Royal Palace in Madrid. The portraits of Philip III (1578-1621) and Margaret of Austria (1584-1611), King and Queen of Spain, are now in the Prado (inv. P001176, P001177).
