Lot description
Drawing, black pencil, coloured pencil and ink, 41 x 29,5 cm, cardboard 50 x 32,5 cm, pencil signed, dated and "dedicated" at bottom left.
The pompous charachter Joseph Prudhomme (created by Henry Monnier) walks about, accompagnied with two young women. Bystanders look in amazement, while festivities continue. Ferdinand-Sigismond Bach, known as Ferdinand Bac, (1859-1952) was a French cartoonist, artist and writer, son of an illegitimate nephew of the Emperor Napoleon.
