Contemp. mottled calf, gilt-decorated spines with 7 bands (hinges broken, tr. of use).
1st vol. only of the 2nd French ed. (1st Fr.: Van Lom, 1729) of this important chorographic work on the Archbishopric of Mechelen, an anonymous redesign of the "Groot Kerkelyk toneel" (1st Dutch ed.: 1727), largely based on C. van Gestel's "Historia sacra et profana archiepiscopatus Mechliniense" (1725), and often wrongly attributed to Jacques le Roy. Abundantly illustrated with engr. by Fr. Harrewijn, a.o. figuring 26 funerary monuments and tombstones, 5 coats of arms, 22 views of abbeys, churches, castles and convents, 9 portraits of Bishops and Archbishops, a large folding map of the archbishopric of Malines and a few in-text illustrations.
