Etching and engr., 19,5 x 32,5 cm (sm. brown spots). King Louis XIV's first visit to the Academy. An interesting testimony to 17th-c. astronomy with the prominent astronomers J.-D. Cassini (1625-1712) and Ch. Huygens (1629-1695), standing around the terrestrial globe, and the innovative instruments: the celestial globe, the map of the Canal du Midi, a quadrant for navigation, the telescope and the armillary sphere. - 2. Duflos, Ch.; Leclerc, S. (after) - Engr., 16 x 21,5 cm. Signed and dated "1730". Later impression of S. Leclerc's front. to Cl. Perrault's "Memoires pour servir l'histoire naturelle des animaux" (Paris, l'Imprimerie royale, 1671-76) with Louis XIV's first visit and the observatory in the background.
