Rome, Calcografia della Reverenda Camera Apostilica, 18th c
Etching, 45,8 x 68,4 cm, laid paper, subject and architect identified in Italian in lower margin, with address at bottom left: "In Roma nella Calcografia della Rev. Cam. Ap(osto)lica al Piè di Marmo" (sm. tears in upper and lower margins, sm. white spot at upper left).
Under passe-partout and gilt frame (not studied outside frame).
Large view on the famous Trevi Fountain in Rome, designed by the architect Nicola Salvi (1697-1751). This etching of the monumental Baroque fountain was published by the printing department of the Apostolic Camera. This was located near the Piè di Marmo, an antique monumental marble foot that is still on display today.
