Contemp. calf, ribbed and gilt stamped spine, sprinkled edges (weak joints, title partially missing, rubbed boards).
Only edition of this uncommon and sought-after work based upon Jean Blondeau's unpublished manuscript "Commentaires sur le roman pays de Brabant" and upon Gramaye's "Gallo-Brabantia". Dedicated to the Bavarian Elector and last governor of the Spanish Netherlands Maximilian II (1662-1726). With a frontispiece after Abraham van Diepenbeke, the "Schema metallorum et collorum", a map of the Galloroman province "Romandua", 37 engr., 9 full-page and 3 foldable plates of castles (Gembloux, Bornival, Ittre, Ottignies, Couroy, Clabecq, Argenteau...), 7 pls representing tombstones, sepulchral monuments, heraldic weapon and seals, all engraved by J. Harrewijn, F. Erlinger et J.V.C. Léonard. Le Roy, who succeeded his father as financial counselor to the Spanish government, ended his life studying the Belgian history.
