Contemp. marbled calf, gilt orn. spine with raised bands, red edges (some rubbings, front joint partly split, head missing).
First French edition of a work by the Parisian economist and historian Butel-Dumont (1725-1788) writing on the English trade settlements on the East Coast of America (a.o. New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Carolina and Georgia) including details on their population and government.
