Second vol. (of 2) of this history of the Dutch Republic by G. Leti (1630-1701), prolific protestant Italian historian and scourge of the Catholic Church; all his (c. 100) works were listed in the Index. Engr. ills: title, 3 allegoric pls on part titles, 8 pls in text (i.a. portr. of Frederick Henry prince of Orange; Maurice of Nassau in armour), 10 full-page pls (mostly costumes, 1 portr.), 5 (of 6) full-page maps inside collation (Holland, Hollandiae Septentrionalis, India Orientalis, Cuba, Guineae Nova; lacking map p. 212 Insulae Indiae Orientalis), 14 full-page maps of smaller Dutch cities and 21 (of 24) folding plates being mostly large city maps of all major Dutch cities (lacking the maps of Amsterdam, The Hague & Rotterdam) and views, scenes and maps of overseas colonies (i.a. castle and city of Batavia, hibernation and walrus hunt at Nova Zembla).
