Contemp. blind- and rollst. calf, spine with raised bands, spr. edges (bumped, corners rubbed, head with sm. def.).

Memoir containing copies of various documents relating to the patrician family van de Velde, most of them authentified by an official clerk in 1699 and in fine "Memories van de diensten van wijlen den Griffier Gijbrecht van [de] Velde en den Raedtheer johan van [de] Velde Gijbrechts soon" ([5] ff.). It concerns mainly David van de Velde (d. 1679), councillor receiver-general of the States of Brabant. Contains also information of famillies related to the van de Veldes, such as the Valckenborchs, Paris or Cortbemdes. Very fine hand-coloured ill. (mostly full-page): 1 genealogical chart, 4 quaters of nobility, 8 coats of arms, and 8 tombstones. One of the first folios is decorated with interlacings, but without inscription. Was it intended to serve as a title page? The numerous blank ff. indicate that this manuscript was conceived with the possibility of being completed later.
