Luxurious Art Deco edition ill. by Hubert Julian Stowitts (USA 1892-1953), reproducing in 59 plates the superb costumes and decoration of the opera" Fay-Yen-Fah" inspired by the magnificent old China in a typical colourful and sumptuous Bakst-like style. Text printed in dark brown on brown paper and decorated with red/gold vignettes. Stowitts joined the dance company of Anna Pavlova and toured the world with her. It seems that he lived and painted in Asia, Indonesia, India and continued to paint, draw and perform in the USA. Limited to 200 cop. (n. 123).
