Contemp. blind-stamped calf (expertly repaired and rebacked, sm. def. at covers), spine with 5 raised bands, gilt gauffered edges. Nice copy.
Rare Paris edition of one of Erasmus' educational texts (1st 1514): a collection of metaphors from Greek and Latin authors (Plutarch, Seneca, Pliny, etc.). The work is dedicated to Pieter Gillis (1496-1533), town clerk of Antwerp. Title within elaborate woodcut border.
