Lot description

Folio: [252] ff. = [8] ff. + 13 "Libri" also published separately (?) (toned, some thumbing, occasional minor staining).

17th-c. sheep, gilt spine on 6 raised bands (rebacked with original spine pasted on, rubbed, corners bumped, head and tail repaired). Good copy.

Very curious, probably privately published collection of Neolatin verses by a Brussels Franciscan. Most copies of this bibliographically very complicated publication differ as to the order and number of ff. for each "Liber". Some ff. have been published separately at Antwerp or Cologne from 1675 onwards. Engr. ills : some 63 full-page pl. (arms, portraits of rulers, allegories) and 85 smaller engravings (incl. many repeats, head and tail pieces, vignettes and the like). General title in red & black. Ref. Cp. STCV 12922089 and linked descriptions. - Not in Oberlé. Prov. Presentation inscription at front "dono Authoris ... 1700" (partly crossed out). - Libr. stamp and ticket.
