Drawing, pen and sepia ink, 15 x 22 cm, laid paper, pen signed "Paul van Somer inventor et fecit" and dated in the lower right corner (crease along the left margin).
Mounted on paper support.
Van Somer II (Amsterdam 1649-1714 London) was an engraver and mezzotinter. He lived and worked in Paris in 1670-4 and moved to London in 1675. He was certainly a Huguenot refugee, and was naturalised in 1691.
