Lot description

Broadsheet (visible area 37 x 26 cm) (toned).

Framed (not unframed). Good copy.

Extremely rare (unrecorded?) devotional broadsheet, printed by or for an otherwise unrecorded bookseller at ’s-Hertogenbosch. Grimme" (Mosmans, Oude namen van huizen en straten in ’s-Hertogenbosch, 1907). Gremmen and Grimme was a typical Catholic family name in town and region.
At top: title, 12 rhyming Dutch verses (in roman type, in 2 col.) and a central woodcut with IHS emblem. Text of prayer printed in Gothic type in 2 col., separated by an ornamental type border. At bottom the imprint: "Tot s’Hertogenbosch | By Hermanus Gremmen, Boek- en Papier Verkooper in de Hintemetstraat / | In den Vergulde Speelwagen ||".
