5 vol., 8vo: 297 engr. pl. (missing ? pl. 133*, two different pl. with n. 197, mistakenly printed n. 212 instead of 211, some offsetting, some mild spotting not affecting the pl.).
Contemp. quarter black shagreen, green cloth on covers, gilt orn. spines with 4 raised bands.
Publication compiled by the Ghent botanist and horticulturist Charles Morren (1807-1858) illustrated with 5 identical engr. titles by Ch. Onghena and 292 lithogr. plates showing nice flowers and fruits (Nissen mentions 291 pl.; digitised copies and Biodiversity Heritage Library show no specific pl. for n. 133*), hand-coloured or chromolithogr. by G. Severeyns or Alex. Lagarde of which 10 folding and 10 pl. in b/w of which 2 folding; some woodcuts in-text. Morren was director of the Jardin botanique de l'Université de Liège and was the first to discover a method for artificial pollination, which made it possible to cultivate vanilla in the French colonies.
