Lot description
In a paper sample catalogue, oblong 8vo: ca. 220 ff., more than 220 drawings, mostly in black, in pencil, some in pastel or ink, occ. (water)coloured.
Three-quarter brown cloth, grey cloth on covers, front cover gilt titled "N° 1 / Coquilles / Registres / Impressions / 1928".
Representing the themes of choice of Marie-José Van De Veegaete (1917-2005): mothers with child/children and portraits of women and children (same persons figured a few times), and also compositions (i.a. at a ball), a couple dancing, a horse rider and a soldier. Only one woman portrait is signed and dated 1940, most probably self-portrait of the artist. Van De Veegaete (1917-2005), drawer, painter and sculptor from Ghent, was the daughter of the painter Julien Van De Veegaete (1886-1960).
