Lot description
[Geneva], J. Chouët, 1599
16mo: 166-[8 (of 10?)] pp. (gnawed at, pale dampstaining, marg. wormtrack).
Contemp. vellum, flat spine (lack of vellum to cover lower edge).
Very rare edition printed in Geneva of a text by A.D. Fiocco (d. 1452), apostolic secretary to Eugenius IV. It was a falsification of a work supposedly written by the Roman author Fenestella, of whom little is preserved. Added is a more competent treatise by the Roman antiquarian Pomponio Leto. Both texts deal with the priesthood and public offices in ancient Rome. Woodcut printer's mark on title.
