8vo: [16]-42-[2]-543-[1]-368-[16] pp. (extra corr. ff. B3 & B6 bound between prelim. pp. 38-39; occasional minor soiling and marginal dampstaining).

17th-c. gold-tooled calf, covers with rectangular gilt ruled frames with large corner pieces and central coat-of-arms, richly gilt spine on 4 raised bands, a.e.g. (sl. rubbed, ties gone). Good copy.

Greek-Latin ed. by the Leiden professor J. Hoelzlin (1583-1641) of the ancient Greek epic on the Argonauts and the Golden Fleece. Woodcut mark on title. Title in red and black. Prize book given in 1644 in the Jesuit Collège du Mont in Caen. Ref. Willems 510. - Hoffmann I:215. - STCN 832767344 (i.a. BL). Prov. On covers gilt arms “trois cormorans d’argent sur écartelé 1 et 4, gueules au griffon d’or sur écartelé 2 et 3” of Thomas de Morand Baron du Mesnil-Garnier (1581-1651), “Conseiller au Grand Conseil (1605), trésorier de l’Épargne en 1617, commandeur et grand trésorier des ordres du roi (1621) et conseiller d’État. Il fonda en 1620 des prix à perpétuité qui devaient être distribués au collège du Mont à Caen (www.idref.fr). - Old bibliographical note on verso of front flyleaf.
