Prov. Royal Family of Belgium: Prince Regent Charles of Belgium (1903-1983) (label with crowned digit and inventory number on the frame). Could it be that Marlborough's most notable descendant Winston Churchill gave the portrait to Prince Charles? Cf. Churchill's letter to the Prince, on 30 September 1950: "I should like now to express my feelings of admiration for the constitutional and selfless part which you have played in the revival of Belgium in the five difficult years after the war.” ULB, Papiers personnels de Staercke, 170 PP/033.
