2nd half 17th c
Drawing, pen and brown ink over black chalk, 32 x 27 cm, laid paper with watermark (Strasbourg lily, Heawood: 1743), unsigned (horiz. centerfold, several sm. creases and stains).
Partly finished allegorical scene with Hercules holding a club and lion's pelt leaving a room, surrounded by putti engaged in different activities, some of them fighting, others playing sports or sleeping. After an engraving by Pieter de Jode, based upon a design by Otto Van Veen.
