Folio; 154 pl. (occ. minor staining).
18th-c. marbled calf, gilt spine with raised bands (skilfuly repaired).
Famous splendid suite of large and detailed Gospel illustrations by the Wierix brothers (and some by J. & A. Collaert, C. Mallery) from Antwerp, with a short commentary by the Spanish Jesuit Nadal (1507-1580): engr. title + 153 numbered engr. plates. Exceptional copy, interleaved with a complete French translation facing the Latin captions. Attributed (in 1786) to a French Jesuit "Grasset", probably Jean Crasset (1618-1692), the author of a.o. "Considérations chrétiennes pour tous les jours de l'année" (Paris 1683).
