4to: [12]-ccxlvii ff., 50 ll. (f. lxi with tear touching the text, f. liiii with sm. marg. tear repaired, some soiling, occ. contemp. and later ms. annotations).

Early 16th-c. blind-stamped calf over wooden boards, covers ruled with lozenge-shaped central decoration of triple fillet with floral tools within 2 rectangular frames of triple fillet, spine with raised bands (skilfuly repaired, clasps missing).

Later ed. (1st: Strasbourg, ca. 1471) of the famous "Golden Legend" by the Italian Dominican Jacobus de Voragine (ca. 1230-1298). Printed in 2 col., in Gothic type. Illustration: 1 eight- and 1 seven-line initials with red and blue penwork extending into marginal decoration, f. Ir (= beginning of the text) ruled with a blue border and red and blue penwork decoration, three-line blue and red initials, blue and red paragraph marks, capitals touched in yellow.
