Later Dutch edition (1st: 1703) of "Le grand tableau de l'univers", a picture bible by J. Basnage de Beauval (1653-1723), with poems by Abraham Alewyn (1664-1721). Ill. with an engr. title, a delicately hand-coloured frontispiece, 2 engr. portraits of Jan Trip (1664-1732) and the author (d. 1707), 2 double-page maps: a world map "Orbis per creationem institutus [...]" and "De Reysen Christi des Heyland", the double-page engraving of Solomon's Temple, and 84 leaves with 2 engr. and/or tailpieces on each, by Romeyn de Hooghe after J. Lindenberg, C. Luyken a.o. This edition, dedicated to J. Trip who was director of the Dutch East India Company, is the only edition with his extra portrait. Also included is the list of subscribers on verso dedication.
