Lot description
9 drawings, black chalk, one heightened with white and pink chalk, between 31 x 48 cm and 17 x 10,5 cm, wove paper (three sheets of green paper), unsigned (sm. tears at edges, grease stains).
A set of studies of dogs, mostly sighthounds. The drawings are possibly figure sketches by the Belgian history painter Camille Van Camp (1834-1881) in preparation for his 1878 painting "The Death of Mary of Burgundy", in the city hall of Bruges (inv. 2761), which features prominent sighthounds.
