Folio: [13]-C.xcvi [= 196]-C.lxviij [= 168], Cij [= 102] ff. (general title, ff. 1 & 26 of 2nd pt. of OT, and, as often, the map of the Holy Land missing; cut short, some marginal soiling or dampstaining, occasional stains, part of bottom margin of y1 torn out with loss of text and strengthened, fore-edge margin of last ff. strengthened, a few marginal tears; with the original general title leaf replaced by that of the 1535 Bible of H. Peetersen van Middelburch (NK 407), but with the Vorsterman title of Pt. II (NT) still present).
Old vellum, flat spine, 4 ties, red edges (spine repaired). In all a good copy.
This Dutch version (1st publ. 1528) was based on earlier Middle Dutch translations and on recent Lutheran versions. Many of these "reformed" wordings were removed in later editions. 1 full-page (6 scenes) and some 240 smaller woodcuts (incl. repeats) by Jan Swart and Lucas van Leyden. Large Vorsterman mark at the end. Calendar in red & black. Printed in 2 col., in Gothic type.
