Folio: [12]-364, cccxlviii-[10] pp. (engr. portrait and the colophon leaf gg6 missing, outer margin of the engr. title strengthened, index leaf gg4 visibly repaired, touching the printed surface, some browning and spotting).
Mod. half brown leather with corners, marbled paper on covers, spine with 6 raised bands, new endpapers.
First edition collecting descriptions of rare plants observed by Clusius (1526-1609) in various countries (Spain, Italy, Hungary), publ. by Plantin in 1576 and 1583, along with additions describing new plants. Also included are "Commentariolum de Fungis", the first important treatise on fungi, and part of Clusius' botanical correspondence. Ill. with a nice engr. title and more than 1110 woodcuts in-text.
