18th-c. calf, gilt orn. spine with raised bands, red edges (sl. worn).
First Latin edition, published in the same year as the French and Italian editions, of Rouillé's famous comprehensive work of human iconography. Each page is illustrated with medallion portraits and contains a brief biography of celebrated figures from Adam to Henry II of France, incl. Dante, Petrarch, Boccaccio, European royalty, nobility and popes, but also Skanderbeg of Albania, King Tammas of Persia, Turkish Sultans, etc.
