Folio: [20, incl. engr. title] ff.-930 col.-[32] ff.; 243 pl. (some lvs wrinkled and some loose or loosening, tear in pl. 104 touching the engr.).

Contemp. blindst. vellum, spine with 7 raised bands (joints starting to split). Needs some care and paper restorations, but in all a complete and good copy.

Superbly illustrated Dutch flora by A. Munting (1626-1683), botanist and professor at the University of Groningen. This is the first posthumously publ. and the third, much enlarged edition of his botanical masterpiece "Waare oeffening der planten" (1st Amst. 1672). He enlarged the botanical garden of his father H. Munting, one of the most extensive gardens of that period. Ill. with an engr. title by J. Goeree (1670-1731), title-vign., 7 head- and 5 endpieces and 243 numb. full-page plates. These pl. by J. Gole and J. Mulder depict different plants in landscapes or architectural settings. Title in red & black, text in 2 col.
