Second edition (1st 1685) of this collection of Dutch biblical poetry, the major work of L. Bake (1629-1702). Engr. ill.: author's portrait by J.C. Philips (with imprint Amst., Visser & Hartig, 1737, probably from the "Mengel-poëzy"), large mark on title and 12 folding pl. by Jan Lamsvelt. Bake studied in Utrecht from 1647, and later liked to be called lord of Wulverhorst, a manor bought by his father in 1671. The work is followed by 6 pp. ms. poems by L. Bake, probably written by a contemp. admirer or collector ("Schimp dicht tegens de stadhouderlijke regeringe", "Schimp dicht op een regent van Utrecht", etc.).
