Lot description
Paris, François Basan, 1766
Aquatint in brown, 30 x 43 cm, laid paper, signed in plate at the lower margin "Charpentier Sculp". (some dark and dusty smudges, mostly in the margin).
Young man falling down the stairs and grasping a girl who is being painted. The easel falls over and the painter sprawls backwards at the right.
