Set of 6 (of 13) tool engravings after H. Bol, publ. by J. Sadeler, +/- 15 x 20,5 cm (large margins); engr. names and Latin captions.

Stuck by upper corners under passe-partout. Sl. brown., faint marg. folds to upper parts, pale marg. dampstains to "Aquarius" & "Gemini", unobtrusive reinforcement to edges on verso. Good condition.

From a set of 13 plates incl. frontisp. Present : Aquarius, Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Sagittarius and Capricorn. Nice very animated suite representing river landscapes wih scenes from the life of Christ, also picturing the labours of the months; at top the zodiac symbols. The preparatory drawings are kept in the album acquired in 2014 at Christie's by the King Baudouin Foundation (on long-term loan to the Royal Library in Brussels). Ref.
