2nd edition of a travel account by the French artist Paquet-Syphorien. Ill. with a folding map, 23 engr. maps (i.a. the canal of St-Quentin) and views of monuments (i.a. Manneken Pis, the Royal Palace, the Ypres cloth hall and the city halls of Leuven, Brussels and Antwerp) and a table on the textile industry of St-Quentin. Describing his native village St-Quentin with the recently constructed Riqueval Tunnel, he travels to Mons, Luxembourg, Liège, Bonn, Leuven, Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent, Bruges, Dunkirk and Saint-Omer, and pays special attention to local production and industry, monuments and works of art. The author emphasises on p. 115 the rich collections of paintings in Ghent, where “Le gout pour les tableaux y règne encore [...]."
