Lot description

8vo: [16]-200 pp. (cut short at top, toned and stained).

Later quarter leather, gilt spine with 5 raised bands, red edges (rubbed, front joint split, def. at edges, title label gone). Good copy.

Original edition of an early psychological treatise by the Louvain medical professor Thomas Feyens jr. (1567-1631). It also deals with fantasy, imagination and the soul, and their relation to physical health. He collected citations on the subject from sources ranging from Plato to Erasmus. One of the questions raised is whether beasts and foetuses have imagination. Woodcut mark on title.
