2 plans by Louis Collin figuring the lands at the border of Meerdaal, previously owned by the Arenberg family. From 1406 until 1795 Meerdaal was endowed with the statute of "Free Wood" with wild boar and deer hunting being reserved for the Dukes. This privilege changed and -according the new hunting law of 1846-, hunting in state forests remained a privilege of the crown. J.-F. Hénot (1799-1865) contributed to the published account of this law (R.-J. Bonjean's "Code de la chasse", Liège, Oudart, 1848). In 1862 Victor Hénot (1835-1908), presumably a relative of his, was hunting with dog and son, on the neigbouring lands and crossed the border. He was arrested for doing so, and it appears that his dog was shot.
