Geneva edition of a Renaissance reference work dealing with the origin of all things, inventors and inventions: agriculture, the nomenclature of animals, printing and books, military science, medicine, weapons, glass, architecture, tools, maritime navigation, wine etc. The first complete ed. (8 books), was publ. in 1521. P. Vergil (1470-1550) was an English historian of Italian origin. Woodcut printer's mark on title. Printed in italics.
