Antwerp, 1618-1655
Etching with drypoint, 10 x 32,5 cm, laid paper, signed in the plate at left side "C.Schut in. cum priv." (trimmed to platemark).
The Antwerp painter Cornelis Schut (1597-1655) specialised in religious and mythological scenes. As a printmaker he focussed specifically on a market for Marian devotion and representations of playful putti, such as this etching. Slightly uneven impression of the second and final state, with the signature of the artist.
