Contemp. Rococo Italian binding: red morocco, boards entirely and finely gilt decorated with dentelles and flower tools (a large centrale one), and ruled with a double fillet and roll-stamps, gilt orn. flat spine, a.e.g. (+/- rubbed, front joint partly split).

First edition of the commentary on sacraments by Alasia (born in 1731), Rector of the seminary of Turin from 1758 until 1761, Professor of Theology and Mathematics at the University there. Illustrated on title with the copper-engr. coat of arms of dedicatee, Vittorio Maria Baldassare Gaetano Costa d'Arignano (1737-1796), Archbishop of Turin. Without vol. II "Commentaria de poenitentia, extrema unctione, ordine, et matrimonio [...]", published in 1788.
