Oval engraving, 8 x 6 cm, laid paper with partial watermark (unidentified crown), signed and dated in the plate at lower left "HGoltzius" (ms. number "37b" in brown ink at lower right corner).

Portrait medallion of Jan Broekhoven, mayor of the city of Leiden, aged 66. Lettered around the oval "GELUCK VOOR GUNST ÆTAT SUÆ 66 HGoltzius Ao 1579". Very nice impression of the second and final state, with added lettering on the window sill behind the sitter, stating "I. Van Broeckhov. Burg.Me. der stadt Leiden". Wide margins with writing in red pencil "I.v. Broekhoven.".
