Roman fountain and column.

Etching, 46 x 31 cm, laid paper with watermark (Briquet: 8391), signed and dated in the plate below the column "Excudebat Antonius Lafreri Roma MDLXXV" (sm. crease at upper left corner, ms. number 55 added in brown ink at upper right corner).

The so-called Column Rostrata adorned with the prows of conquered ships and the Meta Sudans, a pyramidal column with water dripping from the top. The print was collected as part of the "Speculum Romanae Magnificentiae". Good impression of the first state.
