Contemp. mottled leather, gilt spine with 5 raised bands, sp. edges (rubbed). Good copy.

Only ed. of the collected Latin poetry of P. Scriverius (1576-1660), a central figure in Dutch literary life of the 1st half of the 17th c., including numerous verses on contemporaries, but also on Erasmus and Janus Secundus, as well on his favourite hero Laurens Coster, whom he vigorously considered to be the inventor of printing. These poems are preceded by a large selection of his philological notes on classical Latin authors. Woodcut mark on title.

Collected Dutch poetry of Scriverius, preceded by a well-documented biography. Nice title engr. (the author in his study, with a view of Leiden).
