2 vol., 4to: [24]-435-[1 bl.]-lxxxii, [2]-521-[1 bl.]-23-[1 bl.]-xlii-[64] pp. (some pp. sl. browned, marg. soiling, some foxing).

Contemp. sheep, blind-ruled covers orn. with central gilt coat of arms, gilt orn. spines with raised bands and green & red leather labels, marbled edges (joints split, def., one head and tails missing, front cover of vol. I partly faded, lacks of leather to spines, sl. rubbed).

First French translation by the Jesuit Gabriel-François Le Jay (1657-1734) of Dionysius of Halicarnassus' major work. Illustrated with 2 headpieces: one with the arms of France at dedication and one historiated.
