Contemp. vellum, flat spine (loose, larger part of spine missing, very used binding, inside good).
Reprint of the second edition of the Spanish translation by M. Pérez of this celestial atlas (1st ed.: Venice, 1588; 1st trsl. Granada 1606) by the well-known private teacher to the Venetian nobility and founding member of the Second Venetian Academy Gallucci (1538-ca. 1621). According to the collation described by the USTC, our copy could be the 1616-edition (presence of the f. ¶1). Ill. with numerous woodcuts: diagrams, some full page, 71 ingenious volvelles (a few loose, some possible integrations from another copy), 48 maps of the Ptolemaic constellations and the related mythological illustrations, the additional folding table "Canon sexagenarius" at the end, charts and decorated initials. First star atlas to combine a coordinate system with a trapezoidal system of projection for an accurate determination of the star and zodiacal positions.
