Contemp. brown calf, blind-stamped covers with gilt supralibros on front and the date 1592 on back, spine with raised bands, 2 original metal catches present (sl. rubbed, upper corners bumped). Very nice copy.

Extremely rare copy only known by the description made by Nijhoff-Kronenberg, reproduced by the later bibliographies. Dutch translation of Brunfels' (ca. 1488-1534) "Precationes biblicae" (1st ed.: 1528; 1st Dutch transl.: 1531), ill. with numerous half-page woodcuts. The book was banned by catholic authorities and was put on the Index of Forbidden Books. Enriched with Nijhoff-Kronenberg's description (cut from the book).
