Lot description

1. Achromatic telescope (overall: 32,5 cm; diameter: 65 mm), brass, with tapering barrel covered in leather. There are three brass draw tubes and brass fittings that include a pivoted eyepiece cover. The maker’s name appears on the smaller draw tube as "W. Causton, May 1901". - 2. Portable reflector telescope (overall: 20,5 cm, diameter: 4,5 cm), patinated brass, mounted on wooden box (incl. 3 dividers and a pen in steel). ca. 1780. Signed: "L. van der Bilt, Franeker". - 3. Portable telescope (overall: 26,5 cm, diameter: 5 cm), mahogany barrel and brass tubes, brass cap and sliding cover. 19th c. - 4. Portable telescope (overall: 40 cm -closed-, diameter: 5,5 cm), mahogany barrel and brass tubes. Signed: "Wilson London Day or night". 19th c. - 5. Telescope (overall: 16 cm, diameter: 2,8 cm), brass, with tapering barrel covered in leather, protection cap. - 6. Small English brass telescope on folding tripod (overall 17 cm, diameter: 3 cm). - 7. Telescope (overall: 28 cm, diameter: 4 cm), brass construction, nickel plated on the draws, and painted externally. With leather cover, signed "Britex Spotter", ca. 1950. The ‘Spotter’ was made after World War II. - 8. Telescope (overall: 15 cm, diameter: 4 cm), brass, with tapering barrel covered in leather. - 9. Telescope (overall: 12,5 cm, diameter: 2,5 cm), brass, with tapering barrel covered in leather.
