Engr., 45 x 55 cm, full col. (expert restoration by leaf casting, sl. frayed edge).

Nice copy.

4th state of this map of the Low Countries by P. Verbiest. West at top. Cartouche rather poorly engraved. Title in a rectangular panel; on top Hermes and 2 putti, below many tools. Legend near left border in cartouche held by winged putti. Near bottom border 2 men handling measuring-instruments (poorly engr.). Compass-rose with 16 rhumblines and 8 names of the wind directions. Decorative upper and side borders with panoramical views of 17 cities: Limburg, Ghent, Luxemburg, Antwerpen, Brussels, Amsterdam, Nijmegen, Utrecht, Middelburg, Namur, Mechelen, Arras, Mons, Zutphen, Leeuwarden, Groeningen & Deventer. The border with coats of arms on the bottom has been trimmed off.
