Contemp. gilt decorated marbled sheep by the Hebrew Books Bindery, covers ruled with central ornaments, flat spines entirely gilt decorated and with red & green labels, gauffered gilt edges, pastedowns and flyleaves of pink paper orn. in black and white (sl. rubbed, sm. def. to head of vol. VII).

Second edition of vol. 5-6-7-9 of the Machzor prayer book. They contain the feasts of Sukkot, Shemini Atzeret, Pesach, Shavuot (Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are missing). Texts in Yiddish edited by Isaac Ezechiel. Illustrated with 4 identical frontispieces by J. van Sasse.
Binding (decorations except one, listed by Jan Storm van Leeuwen): covers decorated with a centre composition spread out across the height of the binding : at top, 2 angels (t 2 a+b) holding up a crown (t 45) and holding a heart with the tables of law (t 44) surrounded by stars (t 54 or 57?), beneath a vase (not listed by Storm) and under a baroque tool with a piece of fruit (t 38), all this composition is encircled with a thin roll and fillet and with a larger roll-stamp with rocaille and flowers with downward hanging petals (r I). On lower cover, the vase is half-encircled with a text (provenance) in Hebrew. The Hebrew books bindery was active in Amsterdam perhaps from 1782 until 1793 or later.
